Thanks for the Canning Jar Heads Up

I found some 12 per case wide mouth quarts for 10.99 at our local, great Feed and Seed.

When they restock it will likely go up, so we added 10 cases plus 2 extra lid cases per case.

We also got a long term supply of rat bait and more food storage bags.

Anybody got any good leads on 1/2 gallons. Goodman's shipping is kinda high. Course it's gettin higher everywhere.

My local Wally*World just got a whole shipment in. The prices seemed only slightly higher (around $1/$1.50 case) than three months ago.

The only places I've seen 1/2 gals are some Ace Hardware stores or other rural or farm supply-type stores.

Yeah, the demographics there probably don't demand much in the way of canning supplies. We're in a semi-rural area that gets more rural as you move north. So down by the beach, the stores will have just a few cases of jars. As you go north, the selection and quantities get larger. It might work that way out there, but then CA might be in a region where they won't even mess with them. Good luck!

I just bought another 10 cases of 1/2 gallon jars from my local Ace Hardware: $9.99 a case. How can you go wrong?

Excellent!!! Ace hardware discontinued the 1/2 gallons last spring. I think the Gimmers bought them all. It's nice to have them back.

yeah, I saw that online, but when I called my local Ace Hardware, even though they didn't have then in store, they were able to get them fast. I have been accumulating them regularly all summer. I think I have one more order to go. Good Luck. 1/2 gallon and 1/2 pint are my favorite sizes.

Where I live, both the local grocers and the local hardware/dry goods stores all stock the half-gallon jars. That is because the area is rural and lots of people can. We pretty much buy a case every time we stop at the local grocery store.

I got 300 + quart jars off craigslist for $60 from a woman who was getting rid of her mother's collection. I also scan the garage lists on craigslist and find some there. I have found some people posting 1/2 gallons put havent been quick enough to get those.
